When you first open Privé, tap "Set Up Vault." You'll be prompted to create a secret PIN using the calculator keypad. Enter your desired number sequence, then press = to confirm. This sequence is what you'll enter on the calculator each time you want to unlock your vault.

Your PIN is encrypted on your device and never sent to our servers. If you forget it, you may be able to recover access via your Apple ID credentials within the app. We strongly recommend writing your PIN down and storing it somewhere secure when you first create it.

Unlock your vault with your PIN, then tap the Media section. Tap the + button to import photos or videos from your camera roll. Once imported, the original can optionally be deleted from your standard Photos app — Privé stores its own encrypted copy.

Open the app — it shows as a standard calculator. Type your secret PIN sequence using the calculator number buttons, then press the = button. If the sequence matches your stored PIN, your private vault will open instantly.

Yes — Face ID unlock is available with the Pro version. After upgrading, you can enable Face ID in your vault settings. Your PIN remains the master key and backup option at all times.

Inside the app, tap the settings gear icon in your vault and select "Upgrade to Pro." The one-time purchase of $5.99 is processed securely through Apple. Once purchased, Pro features unlock immediately and permanently.

Your vault data is stored on your device and may be included in your encrypted iCloud device backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled. The data remains encrypted in the backup. We recommend regularly backing up your device to avoid data loss.

Privé is currently optimized for iPhone. It will run on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode via the App Store. A native iPad version is on our roadmap.
